Planning To Be More Effective In 2010?

Do you know how so many people struggle to effectively impact others in business and with their public speaking?

Well, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a story with you that has changed my personal outlook on communicating with others – in business and in my personal relationships.

As you know, this year has been rough for many people in business. Over the summer, I was looking for a few ways to better position myself as a freelance consultant to grow my new interactive marketing company.

I stumbled upon a website called Mixergy that was about to conduct a live interview with the author of this book, “So What?:  How To Communicate What Really Matters To Your Audience”.   It sounded interesting so I stuck around for it.

I have to tell you that after watching the interaction between Andrew Warner, founder of Mixergy, and Mark Magnacca, author of So What?, I felt compelled to go out and buy the book that day, and I did.

I read the book from cover to cover that day – a first for me since I rarely can sit still that long.  After I read the book, I popped onto the author’s website to register for his 21-Day Challenge.

Thinking the author might be interested in a few areas where he could improve his marketability and the interactive nature of the website I sent him an email with some of my ideas.

Long story short, Mark hired me to help him with his online marketing strategy for the book and his training company, Insight Development Group.

I’m really excited to be working with Mark as he is a dynamic and down-to-earth guy.  I think we’re both in a position to teach each other and more importantly, we both really care about helping others grow in business and in their personal lives.

We have big plans for 2010 and I hope that you’ll consider buying Mark’s book. By recommending this easy to read book to others, you will be helping them apply principles that can really impact their life.

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and safe & prosperous New Year!

Happy Holidays,

Jason Cronkhite

P.S. if you want to see the interview I saw on Mixergy.com here’s the link.

P.S.S. This post was orginially an email that I sent out to my current contact list.  Let me know if you’d like to be included on future emails.

Help More Entrepreneurs Help Users

// August 14th, 2009 // Comments // Business Resources

Call it what you want but I’ve had Bloggers Block recently. Thus, I have not been motivated to write much lately and have really been interacting in the real-time web more and more. I think this is partly because I’ve been reconsidering who I really want to write for and how I will really want to help my audience. While I am restructuring and rethinking, I do know that I want to focus more on helping entrepreneurs and small businesses. Partly because as my own Chief Everything Officer, I know how difficult it is for small business owners to advance their companies to the next level.

Thanks to Dave Winer I felt like, “ok let’s use his idea as a motivator to get the blog back on track”.  Dave has also helped me uncover and clarify some of the thinking I’ve been doing - how to better help entrepreneurs and small businesses succeed.  By starting this discussion on building sustainable user-oriented businesses it deepened my interest and passion for trying to build a community that supports the interests of entrepreneurs and their customers, who ultimately make companies valuable together.

As an entrepreneur still on his journey, I’m still trying to answer my QUESTion.  I’m also learning what the street teaches me everyday and I’m trying to learn as much as possible from others that have 1st hand knowledge and experience as well as thought leaders like Seth Godin, Chris Anderson and Mark Magnacca.

It’s tough being an entrepreneur! At times you’re on top of the world and others you’re digging out of 50 Foot holes. But, I surmise it is very rewarding once you’ve reached the peak of your own mountain.  Yet, trying to make it I am still (sounds like Yoda). You can’t give up though!

At the same time, there are many of us out there and we have to help each other. I believe I have a lot to offer by teaching others in their QUEST for success and I know I can certainly learn from others.

Something else though that is really important is the need to remain ethical and focused on your customers needs and staying true to their value while building your company. So, I’ve set-up a group on FriendFeed called Argo User Ventures.  Argo was the ship that Jason and the Argonauts sailed from Iolcus to retrieve the Golden Fleece .  Pretty fitting name and I have Simon Edhouse to thank for that.

Come join us in this journey and let’s see what we can discover and do together!

What Should A Magic Business Success Box Include?

I constantly find myself looking at companies, cool products and studying visionary leaders and marketers.  I have to say that I’m attracted to success and I love trying to understand how to mix the right ingredients for my own success potion.  I also love to share experiences and lessons learned to help others and really enjoy connecting with and collaborating with others, sharing ideas and trying to make a significant impact on this world.

Some times I have the answers some times I don’t.  Yet, one string of passion that keeps a strong hold of me is trying to help other entrepreneurs and small businesses succeed and get to the next level.  So, I got to thinking - if I had a magic box with a handful of success tools given to me, what would it include?

Now, my personal box will probably be a bit different than yours but, there could be a few things that are constant in all business success boxes.  Here goes my short list:

  1. You must have a Meaningful Marketing potion ( here’s a great recipe ).
  2. You must have a Great Team of People with Excellent Leadership, Strong Values & Vision.
  3. You must have a Keg of Passion, a Troth of Determination and an Evangelist that is a network monster who brings in customers and business deals like there’s no tomorrow.
  4. You must have Faith, Belief & Focus if you expect to succeed.
  5. Some cold hard cash and luck are always fantastic but you can do it with lots of elbow grease.

Here are some great resources to consider:

There is a ton more out there and I’m sure that you have some great information and resources to share so please do.  I’m personally working on a Social Media Starter Kit of sorts with Dean & Mark, who are fellow members of building43.com another fantastic resource for learning about cutting-edge internet technology and strategy. And, I would love to add any suggested resources to the starter kit.

What would you include in your business success box?
